Today we tried two different pathways; Wire drawing and textiles.

My first impression of doing the wire drawing is that I thought my interpretation of what I saw at dolpinholme could be quite successful, because the sculpture I made there for my project was quite similar to this, using wire. Actually making it turned out to be not likeI had expected, I found it difficult because it was quite small, so that involved bending small pieces of wire together which I struggled to do.
This was because of how fiddly it turned out to be, the wire sculpture I made at dolphinholme was bigger and so I didn't find it as difficult.

I liked what I ended up with, as I was going I was thinking about what stood out to me at dolphinholme and then tried to incorporate those things into my wire drawing. I really liked the way vines and leaves twisted around the trees where I spent most of my time on the residential and so I tried to put that in my work by twisting wire along the base of the wire and pulling it diagonally onto the top piece.
My weakness with doing thispiece is that I didn't make it as neat as I would have liked, there were bits of wire that are sticking out in various places and I also wish that I'd have had more time to add more to it.
Then after lunch we went to textiles, I was slightly apprehensive about trying this because I had never really done anything like that before. I started off by using manutex screen printing to make a piece of fabric that was blue at one end and red at the other, meeting at the middle to form a purple. For this I purposely didn't press on too hard when printing because I wanted to give it an imperfected, textured vibe to it.
Next, I tried experimenting with tie-dying some fabric- the first I unwrapped and dried instantly after dying it, and the second I left it alone for around an hour before unwrapping and drying it. This was to compare the two as I have never experimented with dye and fabric before. I liked the way my fabrics turned out, I feel as though I got a good colour spectrum through on them. I also ended up doing more fabrics than I thought I would manage to do in time, I did three of them which I was happy about.
Overall, I wished I had more time to experiment here, perhaps to use the sewing machine to make a unique pattern on it.
*Work afterwards*
After I had finished the pathways, I put the things I had done into my sketchbook, obviously the wire drawing would not go into it so I drew a diagram of the process and wrote short notes about them. I also put in the fabric I had dyed from textiles with reflection about them. Below are images of the final results.
