Dolphinholme trip.

When we reached Dolphinholme we had a quick brief and then were sent to find our tent we were stay in for the night, I was so impressed with the sheer size and homey feel to them. Then we set to work- I went down by the river to see what I could find to work with as I planned to do some photography alongside of a sculpture of some sort.
I first got some wire and tied them together in an oval shape to hang in the tree. I next got some purple fabric and draped it along the sides, I had originally planned for it to look more precise then I thought of Salvador Dali and the way his 'the persistence of memory' painting looked like the objects in the painting were melting and drooping and I thought because the object was hanging from the tree, I had an opportunity to attempt to create something similar here. To make this look more effective I placed some rocks in the bottom of the oval to make it droop more.

After this we had some pizza for tea, cooked outside which because the weather was good, made for a chilled and enjoyable atmosphere. Because there was no heating in the yurts we had to keep a fire going to make it warm to sleep in, so the next task was to start that off. After everyone had done that the field below them looked all murky and mysterious so that made for some interesting photos, that can be seen in this blog post.

Next we went into a barn and watched an amazing
performance by Karima Francis and then later on watched The Wicker Man, both things rounded up the day nicely and seeing the live performance was a good opportunity to film and photograph something in a relaxed environment.

When we went back to the yurts half of our group made a campfire outside and toasted
marshmallows and I am grateful for the time at dolphinholme I spent with the people in my group, we stayed outside till the early hours of the morning getting to know each other better and talking more about our common interests.

The next morning, because I had finished my sculpture, a few of us had decided to help out our friend and do an Alice in Wonderland short video, the night before we planned the scenes, and then we shot it all in the morning. The whole experience was quite stressful as we didn't have a lot of time left to shoot it, but thankfully somehow we got it all done with teamwork! I had never done anything like that before, and so I tried to get into it by both acting and suggesting shots and helping with the setting the props up to set the scene. We managed to improvise and make impromptu costumes for people, pipe cleaner rabbit and mouse ears, top hats and eyeliner face make up is definitely the way forward!

All in all I found the dolphinholme trip extremely inspiring, I was brave in the way I tried new things I didn't ever think I would really enjoy and did, and I am excited to explore the possibilities the trip his opened my mind to in the future! Here are some more pictures I took whilst we were here:

Attempted Alice in Wonderland costumes, turned out good if I do say so myself!!!
